Meet Merrick Garland: Obama’s Supreme Court Pick
President Obama has defied the wishes of the republican-controlled congress by nominating a candidate for the position open on the supreme court following the death of Justice Antonin Scalia.
Merrick Garland is an esteemed federal judge with 19 years of experience on the D.C. Circuit Court, which, the President stresses, is more than any other supreme court nominee in history. Garland was a high-performing scholar at Harvard University, and is known for his persuasive interpersonal skills, as well as his top-shelf legal analysis.
Garland is not an extremist leftist by any means, but rather a well-respected centrist, who is known for leading the investigation, as a prosecuting attorney, against Timothy McVeigh following the bombing of the Oklahoma City Federal Building.
