Gunman Attacks GOP Lawmakers, wounds 5

The Management Team of Face Activities extends our sympathies to the victims of the armed attack that occurred in a suburb of Washington D.C., earlier today. This violent criminal act is, of course, horrific, and contrary to all principles of decency, humanity and democracy.

Tragic events unfolded in an Alexandria Virginia park, as a gunman with strong anti-Trump views opened fire on Republican Lawmakers practicing for a bipartisan charity baseball game, Wednesday morning. Congressman Steve Scalise, the House Majority Whip, was seriously wounded (shot in the hip) along with four other men.

Among the wounded were two Capitol Police Officers assigned to protect Scalise. Then a protracted gun battle between the well-armed shooter, 66-year-old James T. Hodgkinson, and local police, took place. Hodgkinson was killed during the confrontation.

Hodgkinson had volunteered on the Bernie Sanders Campaign during the 2016 Presidential election, and had expressed extensive condemnation of the Trump Administration on his Facebook page, along with disdain for Hillary Clinton, prior to the shooting rampage. Senator Sanders commented on the shooting, saying that he was “sickened by this despicable act.”
